Church Weddings
For those who prefer a Traditional Church Wedding there are two Parish Churches within the peaceful and tranquil setting of the Lullington and Orchardleigh Parish; St Mary’s Church which is idyllically located on it’s Own Island at the heart of the Orchardleigh Estate and All Saints Church in the neighbouring village of Lullington. (400m from the Estate)
St Mary's Church
Orchardleigh Island Church is available for Religious Ceremonies and has an advised capacity for up to 100 Guests. St. Mary´s, Orchardleigh enjoys a Unique Island Setting being, we are told, the only operating Church in England on its Own Island. Its remoteness means there is no electricity so all Services are Candlelit and the Organ is pumped by hand!
The Picturesque Setting, the lack of electricity and the Traditional Services mean that many of those who visit the Church enjoy an unforgettable experience. Many of the regular congregation travel miles in order to be here, and would miss the character (and characters) of this unique Church. There is a strong link between Orchardleigh Church and Orchardleigh House for wedding receptions.
All Saints, Lullington
All Saints Church Lullington, is situated 400m from the North Entrance to the Estate, in the Village of Lullington. The services are all Traditional and enjoy the unique setting of this Church with its fine Norman Stonemasonry. All Saints can accommodate up to 150 guests for a service, giving the option of still having a larger Church Wedding within the Orchardleigh Parish.
Many visitors attend the Church Services and most (if not all) enjoy the experience so much that they return whenever they can. During summer months we have been known to enjoy a Church Picnic after the Sunday Services. St John's, Frome
St John's Church is located two miles from Orchardleigh Estate in Frome. This Large Parish Church can seat up to 300 guests; fitting for a town that was larger than Bath until 1650.
This Magnificent Church is a Grade 1 Listed Building and lies a short distance up the hill from the Town Centre.
